Binocular vision on mobile robots has become a major area of mobile robotic research and education.

The Bumblebee 2, from Point Grey research provides the balance between 2D data quality, processing speed, size and price. It provides a full field of view 3D measurement of its environment.

The Bumblebee 2 uses two Sony 1/3” ICX424 CCD image sensors and can output 1024x768 images at 20FPS via its IEE-1394 (FireWire) interface.

The pan-tilt mount for the camera is software controlled and fully integrated with the PekeeII API. The pan range is 180° and the tilt range 180°.

In addition, the PekeeII API kit provides a full integration of the Bumblebee 2 camera, allowing to take full advantage of its capabilities.
