StarGazer, from the Korean manufacturer Hagisonic is a powerful localization sensor offering an innovative way to perform localization tasks in indoor environment. StarGazer emits infrared light that is reflected by passive landmarks attached to the ceiling. Each landmark allows the system image processing unit to determine the position of the mobile robot and a unique landmark encoded pattern gives to the system the ability to localize itself in a large environments such home, office or factory.
A joint effort between Hagisonic and Wany Robotics conduced to the perfect integration of StarGazer on the PekeeII mobile platform and on its various software libraries. Users of PekeeII can use localizations data very easily to implement autonomous navigations algorithms in the PekeeII programming environment.
